These are Beadboard, Board and Batten and Shiplap panels. Beadboard panels come in the form of large sheets or boards with grooves and raised beads. Shiplap panels have a horizontal format with rabbets for overlapping. Board and Batten panels are wide with narrow battens for textural wainscotting.
Amongst solid woods, the best options are Walnut, Oak, Cedar, Pine, Poplar and Maple. Panels made from these materials look very luxurious and increase property value as well. Besides, if you seek something economical, we also have engineered wood panel varieties such as plywood and MDF (medium density fiberboard) panels. Reclaimed wood panels are also available.
We employ different methods for installing wood wall panels, depending on the condition of your walls, weight of the panels and some other considerations. These are adhesive only application (no visible fasteners), screw/nail only installation (easy to remove), batten system (good sound absorption) and adhesives and screw fitting (for maximum hold).
Both brush and roller are required for wood paneling. The roller is used to achieve a smooth and consistent finish in all large and flat surfaces. Whereas the brush is mandatory to apply paint or other coatings in all the edges and grooves. This leads to a seamless and flawless paneling look.
The routine cleaning of these panels includes dusting (with the soft brush vacuum attachment or a lint-free microfiber cloth) and light damp wiping (with warm soapy water). For dealing with stains or other damages, you should use dedicated wood cleaners and can also consider the application of oils or wood polishes, but avoid wax-based ones to prevent any surface damages.
Walnut, Oak, Mahogany, Teak, Cherry and Maple are the best options in this regard. As for engineered or speciality options, you can choose wood veneer, MDF, HDF or thermowood which are more moisture and humidity resistant and can withstand the heat and humidity of Dubai.
